Brand Identity Design for Wedding Photography business, Glitter & Twigs

Inga from Glitter & Twigs is a wedding photographer based in Scotland - she's originally from Norway and so spreads her time between the two countries with weddings and engagement shoots.

We had been following along with each other on Instagram for a while and so I was so pleased to finally be able to chat to her and subsequently work on the brand identity for her brilliant business. All the photography in this post is by Inga herself!

Inga had been in business for a few years and so had a really good idea of her brand, what she stands for, and who her brides and couples are. Her photography style is vibrant and candid, she loves to document the day as it happens, catching special moments on camera.

There are of course the obligatory group shots but much of her photography for weddings focuses on showing the day from start to finish as it unfolds, the smiles and tears, the goofy faces, and the serious dance moves!

Her logo and brand identity needed to complement her photography and work alongside it beautifully. Inga needed something timeless and refined that had a natural and laid back edge to give off the same vibe as her photography.

After Inga approved the mood board I put together, I got to work on the typography first, choosing a modern but refined serif font. I customised lots within this typeface to make the wordmark logo feel balanced and unique.

The L, R, T, and W were all altered to make the letters flow together beautifully. The ampersand shape was pulled from a different font and I came up with the concept of adding an infinity symbol to it and fitting it snuggly under the T in twigs.

I also created various other versions of the logo, the infinity ampersand makes for a beautiful mark in itself and gains that natural laid-back edge when florals and leaves are added. The Glitter & Twigs text also works when used in a line underneath the ampersand, or on its own.
